      <image:title>Home - 1. Whitehaven Wonder</image:title>
<image:caption>In mid-2020, with most of the world very much battling through the pandemic, Australia on the other hand had been mostly protected from its full impact. The strict border policies of Australia that protected us however also meant that we were unable to travel overseas, or even to neighboring states. Yearning to travel, I decided to embrace what Australia had to offer, and tick off some bucket list locations that I had within my own country. Tropical North Queensland was the perfect getaway for a winter escape. It had been on my list for a long time to see this part of Australia, in particular the Whitsundays. Initially it wasn’t part of my itinerary to visit the Whitsundays due to time, but I really wanted to see it. Being the spontaneous person I am, I made a last-minute pitstop in the Whitsundays, to see this wonder with my own eyes. I took a scenic flight over the Whitsundays and saw the famous Whitehaven Beach for the first time. It was one of those moments that left me in awe over how picture perfect it looked (no pun intended!). From the glistening white sands to the perfect tide, with a bit of fog underneath the sunny skies, it had all the right conditions for the ideal photo. Click here to purchase</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - 2.Whale Hello There!</image:title>
<image:caption>Every year between May and October, the whales migrate in search of warmer waters as the seasons change. These majestic animals can be seen as close as 100m from shore, and it is always a spectacle to see, especially when they start to breach, slap, or play. It is particularly thrilling to see the whales from above. I remember seeing it for the first time through my drone. The sheer adrenaline and excitement over seeing a whale, is a feeling that has forever been etched into my mind. It is a skill to spot the whales with your naked eye, as well as being able to locate one with the drone. Calculated risks need to be considered when seeking out the whales with the drone, as the weather conditions and the type of drone you have will play a major part in being able to successfully reach the whale (and get back to shore!). <image:caption>Living by the beaches in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, pods of dolphins can often be found swimming and jumping about in search of food. Dolphins are normally found swimming in groups and are not shy to get close to surfers and swimmers. It is always fun to watch the dolphins going about their day and guarantees to draw an audience from those who happen to be passing by along the beaches. On this spring morning, the water was beautifully clear, and the dolphins were keen to get amongst the surfers and swimmers. Since they were so close to the shore, I just had to capture this special moment when the dolphins came up to the surfer to say hello. Click here to purchase</image:caption>

<image:caption>Over the years, I never really considered visiting the Philippines until social media came along to showcase the beauty of what this country had to offer. Being uninspired by other, more developed Asian destinations, it was a chance for me to see a place before too much tourism happened. I visited the Philippines for the first time back in 2018 and I was blown away by how spectacular Palawan Island was with its turquoise blue waters, dreamy islands, and dramatic landscapes. It left such an impression on me that I went back again almost exactly a year later. Palawan is a drone paradise and is best captured from above to get a sense of how beautiful this place really is. The island featured in this piece is called ‘Snake Island’, which is famous for its long sandbar that appears in low to mid tide. Click here to purchase</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - 5.Surf Sesh</image:title>
<image:caption>It was July 2020, and a strong low-pressure system was sitting out at sea causing some of the biggest swells that Sydney had seen in over 20 years. The day this massive swell was forecasted to happen, surfers were out in droves looking for the best breaks. It seemed like half of Sydney descended on just one surf spot in Sydney as word got around that the surf was producing 12–14-foot waves. Crowds lined up all along the cliffs wanting to witness these brave surfers take on these monster waves. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any waves as big as what I saw that morning. Capturing these surfers with the drone was quite a hair-raising experience, as there were many drone pilots having the same idea. This meant that there was a high possibility of a collision with other drones out there too. Thankfully I did not run into any other drones and I was able to capture the magic of that morning. <image:title>Home - 6. Seal of Approval</image:title>
<image:caption>Seals are very much like the dogs of the sea. They are playful, mostly friendly to humans, and like to show off. Whenever you see a school of fish (or ‘bait ball’ as we like to call it), you will almost certainly see a seal playing with the fish and teasing them, before going in for the kill. Capturing this from the drone one morning last year, it was so mesmerising watching the seals swim through the bait balls and teasing the fish before eating its breakfast. The bait balls on their own are quite hypnotic to look at as the fish harmoniously swim in sync with each other. When you add a seal to the mix, you see chaos amongst the fish as it avoids becoming lunch! Click here to purchase</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - 7. Island Isolation</image:title>
<image:caption>After a tough 2021, with most of Australia spending a lot of the year in hard lockdowns, we finally started to turn a corner with borders opening up, and the country starting to get back to some form of normality. With the inability for us to travel beyond the 5km radius of our homes for a lot of the year, it was only natural for many of us to want to travel as far as we possibly could once things started to open up. As another wave started to rapidly sweep through the southern states, I decided to go on a spur of the moment escape up to Far North Queensland. I saw glimpses of the Great Barrier Reef when I was last up there the year before, and really wanted to see more of it, because it was just so beautiful. There’s no better way to see the Great Barrier Reef than on a scenic flight. The Great Barrier Reef was as beautiful as a I remember it, with its turquoise blue waters, and little desert islands (called ‘cays’). After a couple of very tough years for everyone with the pandemic, this cay represented the isolation that we all felt in some way. It may be the inability to see friends and family who live elsewhere, or the inability to socialise with those around us as we were locked down in our homes for much of the year. It represented the mental and emotional isolation, as it felt like we were the only ones going through all these thoughts and emotions. Click here to purchase</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - 8. Dolphin Discovery</image:title>
<image:caption>Byron Bay, located on the most easterly point of Australia, is well known as a playground for all kind of marine life. After many trips to Byron Bay, I’ve never once seen any marine life. After a sunrise mission, as we were walking back to our cars, I was talking to my friends about the fact that I’ve never seen any marine life here, despite it being known as a ‘Mecca’ for it. As if they had heard me, dolphins were immediately spotted jumping around. With no time to waste, I sent the drone up for a closer look to see what the dolphins were so excited about. To my surprise, I saw two dolphins having a feast with a school of fish (bait ball). The sight of these dolphins playing with their food was quite mesmerising to watch. Not only was the water some of the clearest I’ve ever seen, it made the opportunity for a photograph unmissable. Nothing brings me more happiness than to see marine life going about their lives in their natural habitat. It provides the perfect remedy to help you forget all about the troubles that you might be going through, and just enjoy the moment. Click here to purchase</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - 9. Jurassic Measures</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2016, I embarked on the classic Aussie pilgrimage to Bali with a group of friends for the first time. Whenever I travel, I have this tendency to want to take risks and try new things. Out of my comfort zone, I decided to learn how to ride a scooter for the first time. As I hopped on to the scooter, I asked the people who I hired it from how to reverse, how to accelerate and brake. They looked at each other somehow knowing that this would not end very well. After riding around the streets of Bali, I started to get the hang of riding a scooter. On the third day, we decided to ride to the other end of the island. It was nice to be out on the open road, which also meant the ability for me to ride at faster speeds. With this newfound confidence that I gained, I was riding at a decent speed on the open road. Not knowing how to counter steer to tackle a bend in the road at higher speeds, I crashed into the median strip. I must have somersaulted several times, fracturing my wrist in multiple places and as I laid there full of deep cuts and grazes. I spent a total of 8 days out of the 14-day holiday in hospital, undergoing two surgeries to recover from my injuries. Three years later, I went back to Bali on my own to see it properly. Ditching the scooter in favour of using private drivers, I covered so much more ground than my previous trip. I saw some of the most incredible sceneries, met some incredible people along the way, and documented as much as I could with my camera and drone. This piece is in Nusa Penida Island at a beach called Kelingking Beach, made famous through Instagram. I may have seen it multiple times on social media, but nothing beat seeing this place with my very own eyes. I was absolutely blown away by the dramatic landscape, and the top-down view of it that looks somewhat like a T-Rex. I named this piece ‘Jurassic Measures’, as it looked somewhat like a scene from the film Jurassic Park. With its dramatic scenery, and the measures I took to get me to that point in time to fulfil my ‘redemption trip’, I felt this name was only fitting. Click here to purchase</image:caption>
